This Privacy Policy describes how American Tent (“American Tent,” “we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, retains,  shares, and protects your personal information when you (1) visit or make a purchase from americantent.com (the “Site”); (2) communicate with us on the Site via email, chat, and other electronic messages; (3) create a customer account on our Site; and (4) otherwise interact with us online or offline, including by telephone.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to information collected or used by any third party or affiliate, including any such party that may link to, or be accessible, via our Site. American Tent is not responsible for the content or the privacy policies or practices of any third parties, third-party websites or third-party apps. We process personal information, as described below, on the basis of our legitimate interest in fulfilling our service commitment to you.

Before accessing, using, or interacting with the Site, you should carefully review this Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions. We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time and encourage you to review them whenever you interact with us.

User Consent: By choosing to interact with American Tent, including through our Site and by communicating with us via email, telephone or in person, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy and you represent that you are at least 16 years old. If you are under the age of 16 or you do not consent to the collection, use and/or disclosure of your personal information as set forth in this Privacy Policy, please exit and do not use our Site or other applications or services.

Personal information we collect
For purposes of this Privacy Policy, unless otherwise noted, the term “personal information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, references, is reasonably capable of being associated with or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular person or household.

Information You Give Us Directly. When you make a purchase, attempt to make a purchase, or create an account through the Site, our trusted third-party providers collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers, which are not saved or used outside of Shopify!), email address, and phone number. We refer to this information as “Order Information”.

In order to provide you with the best support possible, when you contact us through the Site, email us, or request customer support through our online form or chat feature, we ask for your name, email, telephone number, and any other information that might help us fulfill your request.

Supplemental Information. From time to time, we may supplement the information you give us with information from other sources, such as information validating your address, information based on your zip code or business, or information that we have based upon your relationship with American Tent. For example, if you are an American Tent customer or supplier, we may supplement the information you provide online with information you provide through your business relationship with American Tent.

Information We Collect Automatically. When you interact with our Site, open or click on emails we send you, add products to your online shopping cart, or interact with advertisements, we or our service providers automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your device including your IP address, time zone, information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site.  We collect this information using online tracking technologies such as cookies, pixels, web beacons, and log files. Information collected from third parties. American Tent also learns about you through information you make publicly available, such as on a social network. Please note, any content or information you disclose to third parties regarding American Tent, your communications with American Tent, or using or related to the Site may not be private or confidential.

Cookies and Similar Online Tracking Technologies

We and our third-party partners and service providers (such as Shopify, advertising networks, analytics providers and social media platforms and networks) use cookies, pixels, web beacons, and other similar online tracking technologies to gather information when you interact with our Site and email communications. Some online tracking technologies help us maintain the security of our Site and your account, prevent crashes, fix bugs, save your preferences, and assist with basic site functions.

• Cookies are small bits of information that are stored on your hard drive or in connection with your Internet browser that may identify you as a certain user but do not identify you by name or postal address, unless you have provided us with such information or set up preferences in your browser to do so automatically. Specifically, American Tent uses first-party cookies to provide you with a more customized service and to track and measure website usage.  
• Unique Identifiers (such as a universally unique identifier or “UUID”), which we may store (including remotely) on your device persistently and may access, collect, or monitor in order to help you log in and navigate through the Website.
• Log File Information to learn your IP address, browser type, access times, domain names, operating system, the referring web page(s), pages visited, device information (including IDs), search terms, and cookie information.
• “Web beacons”, “tags”, and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.

American Tent uses Google Analytics to collect anonymized data points about how visitors use our Site, including the number of visitors to the Site, from where visitors navigated to get to our Site, and the webpages. This information is collected and maintained in an anonymous form and used to compile reports and help us improve our Site. If you choose to opt-out of Google Analytics, you can install a browser add-on in your browser across all websites (please note that American Tent is not responsible for the content of external websites).

We also may permit third parties and service providers to use online tracking technologies on our Site for advertising purposes, including tailoring advertisements and marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. How do we use your personal information?

American Tent may use and process information about you, including personal information, for one or more of the legitimate business purposes described in this Privacy Policy. For example, American Tent (and/or our service providers) may use information about you to:

• Fulfill or meet the reason your information was collected or provided;
• Fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations);
• Communicate with you (including providing support or responding to requests);
• Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud;
• When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services (for more information, see our Cookies and Similar Online Tracking Technologies section above);
• Improve and optimize our Site (including generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns);
• Present, optimize, and maintain the security of our Site;
• Register, maintain, and provide notifications to you about your account;
• Respond to law enforcement requests, and as required by applicable law or court order;
• Allow you to participate in interactive features on our Site;
• Personalize your Site experience and to deliver content, product, and service offerings relevant to your interests, including targeted offers through our Site, third-party sites, and via email or text message (with your consent, where required by law).

Sharing your personal Information
We share your Personal Information with a limited number of service providers that perform services to support our core business functions and internal operations including: fulfilling orders, complying with your request for shipment and delivery of orders, sending post mail, emails, and text messages, analyzing customer data, providing marketing assistance, supporting beacons, processing credit card and debit card payments, investigating fraudulent activity, and providing customer service.

Our personnel may have access to personal information as needed to provide our services and operate the Site in the normal course of business.

If we purchase other businesses or their assets, sell our business assets, or are involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, your information, including any category of personal data collected by American Tent, may be among assets sold or transferred and may be subsequently used by a third party.

Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, to prevent fraud or illegal activity, protect the safety of any person, or to otherwise protect our rights and interests. Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to limit any legal defenses or objections that you may have to a third party’s, including a government’s, request to disclose your information.

International data transfers

American Tent does not target customers outside of the United States. However, if you are located outside the United States, the information American Tent gathers about you may be transferred, processed, maintained, and accessed outside of your home jurisdiction or in a jurisdiction with different, and less protective, privacy laws. If you are in the EEA or other region with laws that may differ from the United States and choose to allow us to collect information about you, note that American Tent (and/or our  service providers) may transfer, process, and store that information in the United States and/or Canada. 

Data retention and security

We generally retain the information we collect only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, to fulfill our contractual and legal obligations, or as otherwise required by law. When you place an order through the Site, we may either retain your information and content for a commercially reasonable time for backup, archival and audit purposes, or we may delete your personal information from our systems as part of a data retention plan and cyber-hygiene policies. We will also delete your personal data when it is no longer needed for any of the purposes described above.

American Tent maintains physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that are consistent with industry standards to help protect the privacy, accuracy, and reliability of personal information and to protect it from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, acquisition, exfiltration, alteration and destruction.

We also take commercially reasonable steps to ensure that our third-party service providers reasonably protect and secure your information. If American Tent becomes aware that a third-party service provider is using or disclosing information improperly, we will take necessary and immediate steps to end or correct such improper use or disclosure.

While we attempt to protect the information in our possession and account for the protection of information provided to our third-party service providers through us, no security system is perfect and we cannot promise that information about you will remain secure in all circumstances. Please do your part to help us keep your information secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password(s) and your Account(s), and for all activities that occur under your password or Account(s). American Tent specifically reserves the right to terminate your access to your Account(s) and any contract you have with American Tent related to the use of the Site in the event it learns or suspects you have disclosed your Account or password information to an unauthorized third party.

Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of material changes to this Privacy Policy by posting a notice on the Site, communicating with you through the services, or by emailing you at an email address you have provided us.
